A perfect sphere is sitting on a perfectly flat table...?

I'VE HAD THIS EXACT SAME THOUGHT. I think what would happen is the sphere would create a slight dent, enough that the area touching would be enough combined with the electromagnetic forces holding the table together that the sphere would be supported.
